ANNOUNCEMENT: We are currently looking for an intern to start immediately

 

Duration: 3 months minimum

Location: Wuppertal, Germany

 

The United Nations Environment programme/Wuppertal Institute Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) is offering an internship of a minimum of 3 months with its office in Wuppertal, Germany.

For this position, you will be involved in a project called “Increasing Resource Efficiency and Decreasing Carbon Footprints of Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs)“.

1.1 Tasks

The major task of the candidate will be research and literature review: S/he will perform internet based research for possible source material and literature relevant for major activities expected to be carried out by CSCP. The specific tasks are the followings:

a. collecting and organizing information and knowledge about the relevance and impacts of climate-change in general, as well as particular effects on SMEs business.

b. identifying relevant issues for climate-friendly development in the automotive industry, which supports SMEs.

 

1.2 Competencies

Good academic and analytical skills. Ability to draft clearly and concisely, very good language skills. Good interpersonal skills, works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organisational goals, ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with different national and cultural backgrounds with sensitivity with respect for diversity.

Working knowledge and familiarity with climate change and business is preferred, though not mandato-ry.

Other desirable skills: Good skills in basic computer usage, including internet searches. In particular, good working knowledge of MS Office-Word, Excel, Power Point, Intra-Internet, e-mail applications etc.

 

1.3 Language

Fluency in written and spoken English; fluency in Spanish is another plus.

The CSCP is also constantly looking for qualified candidates for Internships and PhD-candidates on projects in the area of applied international sustainability research.

 

The CSCP was established in 2005 as an international think-tank and ´do-tank` from the collaboration between the two world-renowned institutions: the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy.

 

The CSCP team is looking for open-minded personalities with a high team spirit and the willingness to work in a multicultural and interdisciplinary setting. Students and graduates from different fields of study, e.g. social sciences, humanities, political science, economics, business or environmental science can apply. Proficiency in English (oral and verbal) and a good working knowledge of Office programmes are required.

 

Tasks will include literature and internet research, preliminary work in preparing reports, publications and presentations. There is also the possibility to participate in further project activities, e.g. meetings, workshops or the development of acquisition strategies.

 

The minimum length of an internship at the CSCP is 12 weeks. The internship will not be remunerated.

 

Past internships in international organisations or companies and proficiency in additional languages would be an advantage.
